How to rename multiple files

Sometimes when you have made a lot of video files or perhaps imported lots of pictures from your digital camera you end up with a lot of files with meaningless names.

Windows offers an easy method for the renaming of these files, you can give one file a name and windows will give all of the the same name but add a number after this name for you.

Open explorer
Navigate to the files you wish to rename
Select the last file you wish to be renamed - left click on it
Hold down the shift key and select the first file you wish to be renamed
Press F2
The first file's name should now be highlighted in blue
Type in the name you wish to use for the files
Press Enter on the keyboard
All the files will now be renamed using the name you have just given them and apart from the first one will have a number in brackets folowling it.
